Q. I need recommendations for the perfect holiday party dress…I want to buy one dress that’s classy yet festive, and that I can wear to multiple parties this season!

A. If I were investing in just one dress for the duration of the holiday season, I’d go with a beautifully cut fire-engine red style. You can wear it with booties and a leather jacket for more casual events and with your best jewelry for more formal events…and no matter how you accessorize it, you’ll be “that girl in the red dress,” which is always a nice thing to be.
If Lady In Red isn’t your thing, black and winter white are your best bets; you can style them in lots of different ways, depending on your accessories – just make sure you go for an interesting cut, fabric, or hemline (or a little leather…why not?) so that the look is fun enough for the holiday season – that dress I’m wearing in the top photo has both a deep v-neck and a lace overlay, so it’s much more festive than your average LBD). I also love short hemlines paired with long sleeves this season; it’s a more modern take on the traditional little cocktail dress.
And if you want to go a little more BAM, above are some of my favorite beglittered or otherwise more dramatic styles – most of which are from very fancy brands that are presently on major sale, yay.
