The look created by Lavonne, the makeup artist at last night’s Anthropologie event (more photos coming up), was a twist on the traditional mod cat-eye: with eyes open, it looks like simple winged liner, but once the lids are closed, the surprise is revealed.
To create this sculptural effect, use a thin brush to apply heavily pigmented powder liner (rather than liquid liner) – you’ll have more control. And to see the mod thing all the way through, cover the entire lid with a shimmery white powder and go for a light pink gloss on the lips. (I’d also love this eye paired with a deep berry lip, a ponytail and a grey sweater on an autumn evening.)
Thanks to Katy for the photo!
