Spring Will Arrive, Even If I Have To Drag It Here Kicking And Screaming
And if what I have to do to make this happen is wear shorts in fifty-degree weather...well, so be it. The power of positive thinking and all that jazz.
AOL Stylelist Stylish Sips at Milk Studios
Saturday night, I headed over to Milk Studios for Stylelist's Stylish Sips event. (The announcement I mentioned awhile back: Ramshackle Glam has partnered up with AOL Stylelist!)
Holiday Adventures With Lucy
I spent the afternoon getting holiday makeup tips from Taymour over at Paul Labrecque (more on that to come), and the purples and golds that he layered onto my lids inspired my wine-hued outfit for the evening's events (the Toys for Dogs Humane Society Benefit followed by a holiday party at 44 1/2).
Above The Trees
In celebration of the new "Style" tab you may have noticed up top, here's one of the photos from the shoot I did for a Japanese fashion mag a few months back.
Ramshackle Glam & Sugarlaws / 1
So last weekend Katy of Sugarlaws, who does regular style posts and has been my partner-in-crime as of late, asked me to participate in one of her shoots...
Run To Broadway, Do Not Pass Go
Pictured above: my much-adored purple Juno heels, the toast of every single event I've ever worn them to (not a great picture, but trust: I cannot walk three steps in these things without getting stopped by someone wanting to know where they're from).
Trying to get ready to head to the shows this morning, I tore pretty much every item of clothing I own out of the closet and piled it on the bed (um…Kendrick? When you get home, just…close your eyes). And this is what I ended up with: a Forever 21 black minidress, a Millau hole-y cardigan (Liz’s entry to the Ugliest Clothing Contest at Meghan’s Clothing Swap!), Juno heels (which I was interviewed about no less than four times this morning), and a whole bunch of jewelry. Not very exciting, I know…but the idea of getting dressed for Fashion Week just makes me want to curl up in bed and go back to sleep.
I’m just not particularly comfortable in this world (by which I mean the shows themselves…not the parties - love the parties!). I don’t want to be pushy, don’t want to ask for better seats, don’t want to cheek-kiss…well…anyone, really. If I’m being interviewed or interviewing people (as I’m doing later on this afternoon), that’s one thing, but going just to check out the scene is very not my thing. It should tell you something that the part of the day that has excited me the most thus far has been dreaming about what I’m going to put in the super cute ceramic planter that I got in the Ports 1961 gift bag.
With our lovely producer Marianne at Stuffed. She’s a total joy to work with.
Vince cashmere sweater, True Religion jeans (yeah, too long…I know), Juno heels.
The last movie I acted in (as Jordan Reid Berkow) prior to what you might call my “exit” from the industry. The Vicious Kind was directed by Lee Toland Krieger and executive produced by Neil LaBute, and starred Brittany Snow (American Dreams and John Tucker Must Die), Adam Scott (Tell Me You Love Me), and JK Simmons (Spiderman and Juno). It premiered at Sundance, and apparently opened in Los Angeles on December 11th, although I’m just discovering this right now via Google. I play the relatively small role of the lead character’s ex-girlfriend - they go through a horrible break-up that inspires his resentment of women and subsequent obsession with Brittany Snow’s character.
I was incredibly excited when I landed the role a) because of the Neil LaBute connection, and b) because it was the first time in my life I had ever been offered something without having to audition (why, I have no idea, but I’ll take it). The shoot was extremely laid-back - it was shot in Norfolk, CT for a few weeks in the middle of winter, and for the duration of my shoot (about a week) I stayed in a big, gorgeous house that was kind of far away from the set, so I didn’t really get to know the cast very well, but Adam and Lee were both a dream to work with.
Anyone out there seen the movie? Thoughts? I guess I should check it out one of these days, but the whole face-on-screen thing kind of makes me squirm. Also, I couldn’t find anywhere that it’s playing in NYC.
