I obviously can't get Keratin at the moment (that's a shot from a rainy and ordinarily majorly frizz-inducing day a couple of months after my first treatment, hence the remarkably smooth hair and alcoholic beverage)...but that doesn't mean that you can't!

John Sahag / Keratin Treatment
A couple of weeks ago I got a phone call from the Post, asking if they could interview me about Keratin. I was extremely concerned, because I had been under the impression that the treatment that I get is - at least as far as we know - safe, and the last thing I want is to be praising a treatment that has the potential to cause serious side effects both for consumers and for salon technicians...
Bi-Annual Keratin Treatment / John Sahag Salon
I've said it before, I'll say it again: there is no better beauty splurge out there for those of us with problematic locks.
Keratin Treatment
Last week, I headed over to the John Sahag Workshop to for a Keratin treatment courtesy of magician Doug Macintosh. In this video, Doug explains the benefits of Keratin, walks me through the process, and answers some commonly asked questions about the treatment.
Go here for a rundown of how Keratin-treated hair behaves in different circumstances, and here for a shot of how it looks three months in on a rainy evening.

Get Ready For Twitter’s New Video-Sharing App: Vine
Heard of Twitter's new video-sharing app, Vine?
It's super fun.
What Is It? Basically Instagram, but with 6-second looping videos (similar to GIFs, but a total no-brainer to create) instead of photos. You can create and share videos in seconds, as well as "like" and comment on your friends' creations.
The Upside: Videos! That loop! Whee!
Weekend Snapshots
Saturday morning started with Aunt Morgan (who's expecting her own little one in just a couple of months) and an alternately protective and skeptical Lucy.
Mini-Preview / John Sahag Workshop Flat-Iron Curls
Above, a preview of a post going up later this week featuring three different looks, a brand-new RG sponsor that I'm so excited to introduce you to, and a bit of wardrobe rediscovery on my part. For the post, I also decided to get in a little fancy holiday-hair practice by styling my hair in flat-iron curls, using tips I picked up at John Sahag Workshop last January.
In case you missed the instructional video the first time around, here it is:
John Sahag Workshop Referral Program
I keep meaning to mention this to you: John Sahag Workshop (where I go for my color, from Doug, and my cuts, from Karmela), has a new rewards system that can go a long way towards offsetting the price of treatments with senior stylists.
Here's how it works: If you refer a friend to JSW, they get $50 off their first visit, and you get $50 off your next visit (after their first visit). First-time visitors get to take home a free John Sahag Workshop product, and then get $50 off when they refer someone else, and so on. And there's no limit, so if you refer, say, four new clients, you get $50 off at your next four appointments.
Click here to read all about my experiences with keratin treatments, and remember that if you book an appointment for keratin with Doug and mention RG, you get 10% off. Enjoy!
