This fall, what I’m in love with are rugged, ’70s-style satchels and crossbodys in autumn-y shades of chocolate, burnt orange, forest green and teal.
The best of the best:
Alexandra Satine Metallic Brickel ($504)
Alexandra Satine is a new discovery of mine (I checked out the fall line just a couple of weeks ago), and the best thing about the bags (other than that they’re gorgeous) is that every style can be taken apart to become an evening bag, say, or a wallet (the pockets on the above satchel detach to become a belt bag) – so you get lots of extra bang for the buck.
Alexandra Satine Rio Limon ($288)
Here’s the designer’s personal favorite, in one of the most gorgeous colors for fall.
BDG Studio Wool Tote ($54)
Love this for work and for weekend – it makes me want to run off to the Catskills and sit by a fireplace. I mean, I want to do that generally, but this bag would make the whole experience even better, no?
Old Navy Zippered Nylon Tote ($22.94)
No reason why even your most casual bag can’t be stylish, and this one would look great at the gym, on a plane, or carrying your antique market finds on the weekend.
Marc by Marc Jacobs Voyage Satchel ($498)
Mmm.
TopShop ’70s Leather Satchel ($120)
Everything about this is fantastic, from the schoolgirl vibe to the color to the price.
Foley & Corinna Boxy Crossbody ($245)
My mother just picked up a similar teal Foley & Corinna for fall, and I think it’s such a gorgeous look – just imagine this paired with layered shades of grey or chocolate brown.
Forever 21 Leatherette Briefcase Bag ($34.80)
At this price you it won’t become a wardrobe staple to last the ages, but this is a great take on the structured briefcase style that you’ll see everywhere this fall.
