Pig Butchering?

This morning, Megan, Eric and I headed over to Ottomanelli Brothers to learn all about pig butchering. I had no idea that they had a shop right near me, on York and 82nd, and will now be stopping by way too frequently for their unbelievable-looking strip steaks, chops, and pulled pork.

One of the best things about heading to the butcher as opposed to the grocery store (other than the fact that the meat is often much fresher) is that they’re generally more than happy to answer your questions. I used to be intimidated by the idea of walking into a butcher shop if I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, but it’s so much more fun to ask questions so that you can really learn about what it is that you’re buying. I’ve even occasionally convinced a butcher to hand over one of his/her favorite recipes – always incredible.
