After dinner, my parents told me that I was about to see the most incredible display of Christmas lights ever.

Yup.

That is a SINGLE FAMILY HOUSE up there. They’re (quite understandably) famous in the area for their holiday decorations, and they’re so sweet - there are signs welcoming you to drive onto their property, park, walk around, take pictures…it was absolutely gorgeous, and did a great job of getting me into the holiday spirit.

I have never eaten shrimp as delicious as the shrimp at The Freezer. Their secret, according to Sharyn, is Old Bay Seasoning (the butter that I drenched them with might have helped, too).

Z D pink skinny jeans from Bealls ($20), Betsey Johnson heels, Mossimo Supply Co. cardigan from Target.

In case you thought I was exaggerating about the prices at The Freezer…

The restaurant is near-impossible to find, but if you’re ever in the area, it is SO worth the trek.

Last night, we all headed to The Freezer, an open-air Tiki bar and restaurant in Homosassa, for some seriously spectacular seafood. I had an enormous serving of seasoned, buttery shrimp, and Kendrick and my dad shared that plate of snow crab legs and whole blue crabs, above (which was about $18 total). Check out the mallets that they provide to help you smash out the meat.

Learn about different types of crabs on Crab-o-licious.com (which also has some neat recipes).

Sugared cranberries are one of my favorite DIY gift solutions when you have a lot of people on your list, and not a whole lot of money to spend. They’re beautiful to look at, taste great, and can be packaged in a variety of attractive ways (I like placing a couple of handfuls in clear plastic bags and securing the bag shut with a gold ribbon). I make batches and batches every holiday season and leave the extras sitting in bowls around my apartment to have something for guests to snack on. Watch the video here.

What you need:

1 bag cranberries

2 cups granulated sugar

Better Bites: Sugared Cranberries

In this video for BetterTV, I demonstrate how to make sugared cranberries, which are great both as a snack at holiday parties and as a favor for your guests (just put them in little decorative bags and leave them in a bowl by the door for guests to take on their way out).
