5 Cheap Ways to Spend New Year’s Eve

Link: 5 Cheap Ways to Spend New Year's Eve

From LifestylerMag.com, here are five inexpensive NYC New Year’s Eve options, including the last place in the world you will find me tonight: at the Brooklyn New Year’s Eve 3.3M “Fun Run.”

Some more inexpensive or free options can be found at freenyc.net, including masquerades, parties held on multiple floors of converted factories, and other fun stuff.

Remember my plan to have a murderous/cozy night in on New Year’s? Not happening. After multiple convincing emails from Morgan, Kendrick and I caved, and will be braving the champagne and guacamole-drenched festivities at Dos Caminos Soho (I know, it sounds rough). Dos Caminos is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC (for those of you unable to join me for New Year’s, I highly recommend it as a champagne-hangover brunch spot) and I am PSYCHED to be spending the last night of a truly life-changing year eating delicious food in the company of some of my favorite people in the world.

Now, though, I have one small problem…

What to wear?

I want Every. Single. Thing. pictured here. Especially the Dries Van Noten sweater, D & G wedges, and Alexander Wang bag. Santa…? Come back?

Dries Van Noten sweater, VPL dress, Dolce & Gabbana wedges, Alexander Wang bag, Balenciaga belt, Erickson Beamon earrings, Miu Miu clogs, Balenciaga clutch, Forever21 bracelet, YSL ring, H&M shorts.

Ruh-roh. That would be Virgil playing with Lucy’s cherished blue bunny. I smell trouble.

This particular toy was an Easter gift from Kendrick to me last year (I think he found it in a Duane Reade or something) that Lucy quickly appropriated, but seriously? I should start mass-producing dog toys exactly like this one. I would make MILLIONS.

HOMEMADE VANILLA EXTRACT

Store-bought vanilla extract is extremely expensive, and not nearly as delicious as the stuff you can make yourself with just two simple ingredients: vanilla beans and liquor! Purists like to use vodka because the taste doesn’t compete with the vanilla, but if you like cooking with rum, you might want to try using that instead. (This, by the way, makes an EXCELLENT gift for foodies.)

What you need:

A jar with a tight-fitting lid
