At 8AM this morning, I launched myself out of bed and into a hideous pair of sweats and made my way to Agata & Valentina, our local fancy foods place, to buy ingredients for this afternoon’s NonSociety lunch meeting.
(I would like to say, BTW, that I am aware that workers at the store have been enforcing their right to a living wage, which I am in full support of. I would like to know if the union issues have been resolved since I last saw picketers outside the shop, and I apologize if I am untowardly supporting an establishment that does not promote a living wage. Crossing a picket line is something that I was raised to find particularly distasteful, and if the issue has not been resolved and any reader is privy to the details of this matter, please email me at jordan@nonsociety.com.)
So. Back to my busy morning. Meghan and Megan have never been to our place before, so I was determined to make it a) neat and b) delicious-smelling. In pursuit of the former, I put Kendrick to work cleaning our sinkful of dishes (recall, if you will, that we are sans dishwasher), and in pursuit of the latter, I stuck a homemade banana bread in the oven. Above, my masterpiece-in-progress. It’s a family recipe, but I like you guys…so, on to the next post.
