We all worked together to prepare a decadent dinner of steak, corn, macaroni salad, potato salad, roasted asparagus, grilled peaches, and (store-bought) cherry and apple pie.
I think grilled fruit with brown sugar and cinnamon makes for a really pretty and unexpected side dish or light dessert. The reason it’s so good is that the heat from the fire caramelizes the sugars in the fruit, concentrating the flavors. Even slightly unripe fruit can be prepared this way (our peaches were hard when we started with them).
Other fruits that work on the grill are pineapple (my favorite), pears, and apples. Be sure that the grill is very clean, and grill over medium heat.
