In Bill’s Gay Nineties…what a find. We were actually headed to Monkey Bar, because neither of us has been and there’s always the chance you might spot Graydon Carter, but it didn’t open until 5, so we ended up across the street at what might turn out to be my favorite bar in the city. Bill’s opened in the ’30s, and when you step through the hand-carved doors, you really do feel like you’ve gone back in time. The cocktails are tiny, but expertly mixed, and everyone sitting at the bar most definitely knows the bartender’s first name.
